Bob and Pam with some of our members

Bob and Pam started a new snorkelling branch in September 2008, sharing the pool with a scuba club that was suffering from a declining membership.

Since starting the club with 2 members, in a few short months, they have grown to 26 members. Not only has the snorkelling club grown, but an anticipated consequence has seen the scuba club benefit with an increased membership of 10 new members! The clubs are now bustling, enthusiastic and energetic – working together for the benefit of each other and the furtherance of the two sports, Snorkelling and Scuba.

The Snorkel Club has already achieved “Clubmark” accreditation and the Scuba Club is progressing towards it.

Apart from their work with Dolphin Divers, both Pam and Bob were founder members of Tameside Titans Aquatic Club, a club formed for the pupils of Tameside’s Special Needs Schools.

Beside the Branch work, Bob has been heavily involved with the Licensing of BSAC by Sport England to accredit “Clubmark” and the formatting of a new Safeguarding Policy that brings the BSAC Policy up to the required standard for the NSPCC and to maintain it’s NGB status.

Running as candidates for the BSAC council, both Pam and Bob feel that BSAC is in danger of losing contact with its grass-roots membership by concentrating too much on the elite and needing to communicate more with it’s membership.
